Do I need tech skills in order to build/update the site?
No.The Band Series Editing Area will present you with lots of info with regards to each parameter you can configure. There are fields to enter your titles, to upload your images, to enter the URL (web address) of your movies, soundtracks etcetera.
The Movies and Soundtrack (MP3) files must be uploaded directly to your Hosting Server (where your site/Domain is hosted) and this is probably the most "complicated" part of customizing your site.
Uploading files to your server is no big deal though. You will only need an FTP shareware to connect to your server, select the files you want to transfer and that's it.
For detailed info with regards to FTP, please click here.

Can a visitor of my site copy my MP3 files?
Unfortunately, yes. If the user can listen to the MP3 file he can eventually retrieve it from the browser's cache. There is no easy solution to protect files. All major companies are working on their own solutions that involve very expensive streaming servers, coding the files into different formats etcetera...
Our recommendation, if you do not want users to copy your MP3 files is that you upload just some portion of the song.
-
Does the music streams or do the file must be entirely downloaded prior to be listened?
The program will first download about 5% to 10% of the song prior to start playing. It will depend on the user's connection speed. Shortly, it means that the user does NOT have to wait for the entire song file to be downloaded (unless it is a very short file). -
How many Songs can I include?
You can have up to six CD Selections (Jukeboxes) settled. Each one supports up to twenty (20) songs. You can not have 30 songs in one Jukebox and 10 in another. Max. is 20 per Jukebox.
-
How many Photos can I have?
You can upload 1 image to each text page (there are 4).You can also upload 1 image to the Home Page.
In addition, there are 4 Photo Galleries, each one supports up to 10 images (total 40). You can add some text to each one of the images.
All the images must be JPG. Optionally, advanced users can uplaod Flash movies (SWF) instead of plain JPG images.
As you can see, lots of pictures!
-
How many videos can I include?
You can link to 9 videos (total).Ideally, you may have 3 different video clips. Each video clip can be provided in three different file formats (.avi/mpeg/quicktime/asf/etcetera).
You do NOT upload the video files to our servers, instead, from the Editing Area, you will just provide the Movies URL (web address), for example:
http://yousite.com/movie1.avi
The Band Series site provided by FlashToGo will "call" the movie at your site. In fact, the Band Series site can be downloaded and/or transferred to your OWN server.
FlashToGo does not provide Hosting Services, but we will be gald to refer one to you if you like.
-
Can I create a DEMO?
Yes.Start from the thumbnails at the top of the main page;
Select the model you like and click at the bottom right hand corner (Choose This One);
Create your Account. You can stop right at the Payment Screen. Your account will be created by then and you will be able to logi at the main page of the Band Series.
-
If I see something I don't like, can you customize the site for me?
Yes.Contact our Support Team, tell us what you want and we will quote it for you.
Most custom changes are no big deal, such as changing font faces, graphics, shapes...
-
Do you provide the source codes (FLA)?
No we don't.FlashToGo is about an easy way for users to edit/update their sites, which can be done through the Editing Area. If the user wants to change some parameter that can not be changed via the Editing Area, he/she can request such custom work to our tech/design team for a very reasonable fee.
-
Can I run the Fit/Enterprise Series presentation from a CD-Rom?
Yes, absolutely. You will get all the necessary files in order to do that.
Top of the Page
-
What kind of plug-in is needed to visualize the site?
The Flash 6 plugin is needed. The vast majority of the browsers already comes bundled with the Flash plug-in.In regards to CD-Rom use, NO plug-in is necessary. The application is self-contained.
-
Does the site take to long to load?
Not at all, considering the characteristics of such a huge site, with so many text, photos. Our engine uses a very efficient optimization/compression alghoritm. The images are compressed but their quality are preserved.
The main site itself is 100K to 300K, plus the images and text you will include.
The song files, videos and Photo Gallery are separate from the main interface. Their size will depend on the files you will upload yourself.
-
How to insert my Logotype?
In regards to the Band Series, the Logotype is hand-coded into the template itself by our design team, at no extra cost *.* Since the logo has to be hand-coded into the site, in case you wish to send a different version of your logo at a later time, a fee will apply. The fee regards to the working hours needed to do that (half-an hour / US$ 25.00). The first time you send your logo, there will be NO fee.
You may forward your logo to our support team directly. If you have any comments, please feel free to include them.
The logo will be hand-coded within ONE business day, but you can work on your site in the meantime (upload photos/adding text, choosing the color etcetera).
Image Format and size
For optimum results, your logo should be in vector-based format, such as the native files produced by softwares such as FreeHand, Illustrator, Corel Draw, .PDF (Acrobat) and a few others.
In addition, vector-based images allow us to create a transparent background for your image.
A nice option is an EPS file generated by Adobe Illustrator for example, since it can preserve the transparent background.
Transparent Background
if you want the background to be transparent, you must send us the file in Photoshop (the layers must be preserved). The background must be on a separate layer, dettached from the logo.
We assume that you have already created your image in Photoshop or so.
The image shall have at least two layers: the top layer is the image "shape", or the logo if you wish, and the bottom layer is the background;
Once the image is flattened against the background we can not remove it.
Send us the .PSD (Photoshop) layered file and we will be able to set the logo with transparent background at your site.
Another option that may preserve the background transparency is PNG24, which can be produced within Photoshop. You will need to remove that background layer and leave just the logo (no background) on a top layer. Click at the "Save for Web" button and choose PNG24.
Optionally, you may send us a Bitmap image such as: .JPG, .EPS, .TIF, .BMP, .GIF. In case you are wondering :-), Bitmap images are regular images produced by softwares such as Photoshop, digital cameras etcetera. In that case we will not be able to set a transparent background at your logo.
What's the big deal in having a Logo settled with a transparent background'
You may eventually change the backgroud color of the site, underneath the logo, and the logo will be seamlessly integrated to the site. Otherwise, there will be a box surrounding the logo, since the background of the Logo image is actually an integral part of the Logo file.
The dimesions are not a big deal, what really matter is the quality of the image itself and the size in Kbytes. Frequently, a 500 k image file is plenty enough.
If you have any questions, drop a note to our Support Team.
-
Can I add more pages?
Yes, but such addition might be complicated since our editing area itself is limited to a certain amount of pages. It would be easier to add a link to some pop-up page, which will do very well in most cases. Additional customization is rated at US$ 50.00/hour.Check with our Support Team, we might have a simple yet effective solution for your needs.
-
Can I change the Interface after purchase?
The only parameter you can not alter after purchase is the interface (Skin) you have chosen. Of course, if you think you made the wrong choice within a week, we will change it for you. We do our best to keep our clients happy :-)If your Logo has been already hand-coded to the site, a fee of 25.00 will apply since we will need to hand code it again.
-
Can I include a Blog?
Yes.Even though a Blog is not included with our package, you will find links right at the Home Page that you can use NOT ONLY to link to your current Blog but also to any other program, such as a Forum, Guestbook, Contact Forms, Shopping carts, whatever! :-)
